On Saturday, November 22, 2025, the UIS University Bible Fellowship (UBF) hosted a Bring Your Own Game (BYOG) night from 6 to 8 p.m. While most attendees were UBF members, the event was open to all students and community members.
The room offered a wide selection of games, including giant Connect 4, Catan, Uno, Chess, Checkers, Mouse Trap, and several newer titles. Not every game was played at once; instead, groups rotated as games wrapped up, allowing participants to move from table to table throughout the evening.
UBF member Emma Hughes said this was the group’s first time hosting a game night, though the organization regularly plans other activities. “I think this is the first time we’ve done a game night, but we do all kinds of different fun things,” she said.
She explained that UBF’s usual programming includes weekly gatherings. “We put on a lot of different services. We do a Sunday service, a Wednesday night Bible study, and sometimes we like to do game nights like tonight, or we do other fun events as well.”
Another member, Sam Sunim, highlighted the variety of activities the group has hosted. “Sometimes we do trekking events, we go to other places, and last year we had this ice skating fellowship as well,” he said.
Although the event encouraged attendees to bring their own board or card games, participation did not require it. Students were invited to share games, socialize, and connect with others.
Sunim described how UBF provides a supportive space during a busy time in the semester. “My favorite part is connecting to more people. This is how I get out of all my stress, and it’s like a weekly reset for me.”
He added that fellowship is central to the group’s mission. “UBF is a very fun club. And if you want to make your relationship with God even stronger, just come along, join us, and have fun.”
