University of Illinois Sprinfield Prairie Stars Volleyball Sweeps Maryville To Move To 5-1 In GLVC

The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team moved to 5-1 in conference action on Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Ill. with a sweep over Maryville.

   The Prairie Stars defeated the Saints by scores of 25-16, 25-11, and 25-20.

   UIS had nine more kills in the match and outblocked the Saints by a 7-0 margin.

   The Prairie Stars hit .314 for the match, their second-highest total of the season, while Maryville hit just .077. UIS had just seven hitting errors, compared to 23 for the Saints.

  Taylor Bauer led the team with 14 kills and no hitting errors in 37 attempts. Alli Splitt had eight kills, and Megan Krasowski had five kills in two sets.

  Becca Blakeley was the team’s setter on the afternoon and she had 32 assists and two service aces. 

  Defensively, Erin Ripple and Hasler both led the team in blocks with four apiece.

    Jailyn Borum had 17 digs. With the win, UIS improves to 11-4 on the season.
