UIS women’s basketball began a shortfall early in their game against University of Indianapolis, causing the team to undergo their eleventh loss of the season. The game ended with a final score of 73-51. UIS received the first point but lost the lead soon after.

The Prairie Stars were down 26-18 halfway through the first quarter. UIS then battled Indianapolis to keep the score within ten points. With five minutes left in the first half UIS was down by eight points.

The first half ended with a score of 46-30, Indianapolis still in the lead. Indianapolis entered the second quarter with momentum. Increasing their lead to 20 just six minutes into the half.

UIS continued to fight Indianapolis but was unable to overcome the deficit that began early in the game. Indianapolis kept this lead for the rest of the game, enabling them to end with a 22 point lead.

UIS player Alyssa Palmer led the team in total points. Palmer had 12 points, Cassie Wolfe followed with nine total points. The Prairie Stars had a 36.7 field goal percentage.

Greyhounds’ player Katy McIntosh led her team with 18 points. Shelby Wall had 12 points and Kirsten Gliesmann had ten. The Greyhounds had a field goal percentage of 50.9 percent.

UIS player Elizabeth Kelly explained that “late in the first half and in the second half we kind of had our energy drop and we weren’t competing with them as well as we could have been or should have been.” Adding that the team has to “compete with them for not just 15 minutes but for 40.”

Palmer stated that Indianapolis “went on a run and we couldn’t really match that.” She added that the team “got some crucial stops when we needed them but nothing really went our way.”

UIS now has a record of five wins and 11 losses. The Greyhounds increase their record to 16 wins and three losses.
