Christian Student Fellowship hosts ‘Minute to Win It’ game night

On Wednesday, November 19, the UIS Christian Student Fellowship (CSF) hosted a lively game night based on the classic competition show “Minute to Win It.”

The event featured a long list of fast paced challenges, including “Don’t Let the Balloon Touch the Ground,” pencil catching, dice stacking, card sorting, plucking, clipboard ping pong, M&M color sorting, and the popular Oreo race. The games ran from 8 to 10 p.m. in the TRAC multi-purpose room, which was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and creative one-minute challenges that tested speed, coordination, and focus.

CSF leaders said the night was designed to help students connect, relax, and build community. “We just want to have fun with people on campus, get to know them, and give them a place where they can belong,” said Desh Adesiyan, a student leader with CSF.

Students who completed the challenges earned their choice of Walmart or Starbucks gift cards. Only a handful managed to conquer the fast-moving tasks, including CSF members Josh Oriyomi and Carter Kasparie. Both said they planned to use their Walmart cards for groceries. “I’m going to get groceries with it,” Oriyomi said. Kasparie added, “I will also probably be buying groceries with that.”

The first game of the night was “Don’t Let the Balloon Touch the Ground,” where players had to keep three balloons in the air for a full minute. It proved to be the toughest challenge, and no one completed it successfully. The first winners of the night emerged during the dice stacking round, when several players managed to balance six dice on a popsicle stick held in their mouths.

The easiest game turned out to be “Plucking,” where participants had to pull 160 tissues from a box using only one hand. The evening ended with the crowd favorite Oreo race, where students tried to move an Oreo from their forehead to their mouth using only facial movements. Even those who didn’t win a gift card still enjoyed free Oreos and a fun night with friends.
