questions. Thursday September 18th, NPR Morning Edition host Michel Martin spoke
with University of Illinois Springfield students. These students got this chance as they
are interested in public affairs reporting,journalism, and communication.

Students who attended got a chance to ask Michel Martin questions about her
experiences in the world of reporting and journalism, ask for advice for their own
experiences, and listen to the insightful stories Michel had to share. She also shared
what skills she thinks are most valuable journalist or not.

that’s a life skill and I kinda think everyone can benefit from that skill. So even if you’re not
interested in going into journalism as a career”

VO: In a time of pulverisation, fake news, and misinformation , the world needs more objective
and unbiased reporters than ever. Michel Martin hopes to inspire young journalists to do just

Events like these on campus don’t come very often. No matter what career you’re going into, we
can all take away great advice from Michel Martin like Facts over opinions, try everything, and
remember to have fun and care.
