Student Government Association Hosts Bi-Weekly Meeting

The University of Illinois Springfield’s Student Government Association (SGA) convened its bi-weekly meeting on September 14, 2025, in the Student Union Ballroom. The meeting was open to all students, who were encouraged to observe and contribute to the discussion.

SGA Treasurer Gabriella Przygocki emphasized the organization’s mission to represent the student body. “SGA advocates for all students’ voices while on the board by communicating student interest and communicating with UIS administration to help get their voices heard,” she said.

The meeting also preceded SGA elections, held September 18 and 19. Ahead of the vote, The Observer spoke with freshman senator candidate Hamna Syed, who explained her motivation for running. “What SGA means to me is basically bringing my own voice and getting my voice heard,” Syed said.

Syed expressed her commitment to amplifying diverse student perspectives. “Getting other people’s voices heard, because not everybody feels comfortable coming and raising their voice,” she explained.

Future SGA meetings will continue on a bi-weekly schedule in the Student Union Ballroom. Upcoming dates include September 21, October 5, October 19, November 2, November 16, and December 7. Agendas and meeting minutes will be posted online via the SGA UIS website.

At the time of publication, results from the September elections had not yet been announced.
