Illinois DCFS joins UIS Career Development Center at Student Union

Tuesday, December 3rd, the UIS Career Development Center hosted a table event at the UIS Student Union in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS). The table event centered around providing students with information about possible career paths and upcoming opportunities with Illinois DCFS.

The Employer Development and Informatics Liaison for the Career Development Center, Kristin Nisbet-White, explained that the goal of the event was to raise awareness of the kinds of resources the Center offers.

“If you are working on your resume or cover letter, of if you have questions about what you want to do, how your majors might relate to careers, or either choosing or changing your careers, we may help you with that.” Nisbet-White stated.

“We are also joined today by the Department of Children and Family Services.” Nisbet-White said. She shared that DCFS is currently recruiting, which presents a number of exciting opportunities that UIS students might be interested in.

The Career Development Center can be contacted for more information regarding employment options at DCFS. Nisbet-White stressed that the Center exists to help students “check opportunities and connect to employers.” She encouraged any students interested in these services to stop by their offices or reach out to them for further information.

Finally, Nisbet-White reminded students of upcoming events next semester from the Career Development Center, “In February and March, there will be a virtual career fair, arts and culture in February and ongoing fair on March 21st in the TRAC, so look for more things to come in 2025.”
