The Prairie Stars took three games out of four against GLVC rival Wisconsin-Parkside on April 23 and 24.

UIS and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers started off game one with a high-scoring affair as the stars won by a score of 14-11.

The Stars began the game with a three-run lead after the first inning and added one more run in the second. Wisconsin-Parkside answered back by taking the lead, putting up eight unanswered runs in the third and fourth innings.

UIS bounced back in the slugfest as they scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth thanks primarily to a Trey Hannam grand slam.

The Rangers struggled to score the rest of the game, pushing across just one run in the fifth and two in the ninth. UIS, on the other hand, scored five more after the fifth inning, with two in the sixth and three in the seventh.

Four UIS players had multiple RBIs, including Hannam with four, Jason Galeano with three, as well as Gabriel Acevedo and Ryan Walling each with two.

Austin Muench notched four hits, and the game ended with Wisconsin-Parkside and UIS netting 15 hits each.

Game two was quieter as the two teams scored 17 fewer runs, with UIS winning 6-2. Hannam started off the game with an RBI single bringing Jake Redlinger home.

Galeano continued the scoring streak as he cracked his second home run of the day, which effectively scored three runs and gave UIS a 4-0 lead in the first inning.

Although Max Biedrzycki struggled with his command throughout the game, allowing eight walks, he only gave up one hit and allowed just two runs. Dan Pacha finished out the game and retired the remaining three batters without giving up a hit.

April 24 began with a complete 180, as the Stars lost game one by a score of 7-0.

The Rangers started off the game with an early homerun in the first inning and put up six more runs in the fifth.

Tyler Jandron gave up just one hit in his effort for Wisconsin-Parkside. Conversely, UIS starter Matt Farrington gave up 11 hits and allowed seven runs, three of which were earned.

In game two, UIS found more success, ending the four-game series with a 7-3 win.

Adam Gregory was the starting pitcher for UIS, and he improved his record to 6-2 after striking out four batters, allowing just three hits and picking up the win.

After being tied up until the second inning, UIS took a commanding three-run lead at the end of the third and contributed three more runs in the fourth.

Wisconsin-Parkside finally responded to the six unanswered runs by UIS after scoring a run in both the fifth and sixth innings.

The Stars outhit the Rangers by a 7-3 margin.

The Prairie Stars improve to 23-17 overall and 11-9 in GLVC play. The Stars play again at Quincy on April 27 and have a home series against Indianapolis on April 30 and May 1.
