The UIS softball team endured two losses on March 25 and two more on March 26, extending their losing streak to eight games.

The Stars started their home stretch in Evansville, Indiana as they faced off against the University of Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles.

Game one ended in a rough fashion as the Stars lost by more runs than they had scored in any of the games during the current season, with a final score of 13-4.

The Screaming Eagles were efficient, with 13 hits to match their run total.

The Prairie Stars had a hot bat in senior Ashli King, as she was responsible for three RBIs. King got on base with a hit in the first inning and also contributed with a home run in the top of the third.

Game two of the doubleheader was more competitive as the Stars fell to the Screaming Eagles by a score of 8-3.

The Stars briefly trailed by only one run in the top of the third inning after King drove the ball up the middle for a double, allowing Madi Torry and Haley Inman to score.

Molly Manietta contributed an RBI single in the fifth inning, which allowed junior Amanda Gosbeth to score; however, the Lady Stars failed to score any more runs in the contest.

Overall King went 4-for-7 with a double, homerun, and four runs batted in for the day.

The next day of softball resulted in a decisive 8-0 shutout loss during game one of the March 26 matchup as the Prairie Stars traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to face off against the Bellarmine University Kings.

The game was much closer than the final score suggests as the final six runs given up by the Stars came during the last two innings of the game after defensive breakdowns.

Game two was a low-scoring affair, but the Stars still came up short, losing by a final score of 2-1.

The sole Prairie Star run belonged to Gosbeth, who added to her home run total with her fifth blast.

The Prairie Stars are 10-20 for the season and 2-10 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars will host home doubleheaders against Lewis University on April 2 and Wisconsin-Parkside on April 3.
